چکیده

The motion of spectator quarks in decay of a beauty hadron is a nonperturbative effect which can usually be neglected. We find that the motion in some decay channels, which contribute total decay widths of beauty hadrons, can not be neglected. The contributions from these decay channels to decay widths are proportional to certain averages of the squared inverse of the momentum carried by a spectator quark. This fact results in that these contributions, suppressed by 1/m b formally, are effectively suppressed by 1/mb. We find these contributions can be factorized into products of perturbative coefficients and nonperturbative parameters. We calculate these coefficients and define these nonperturbative parameters in terms of HQET matrix elements. Since these parameters are unknown, we are unable to give numerical predictions in detail. But with a simple model it can be shown that these contributions can be large.

Lifetime Ratios of Beauty Hadrons at the Next-to-Leading Order in QCD

We compute the next-to-leading order QCD corrections to spectator effects in the lifetime ratios of beauty hadrons. With respect to previous calculations, we take into account the non vanishing value of the charm quark mass. We obtain the predictions τ(B)/τ(Bd) = 1.06±0.02, τ(Bs)/τ(Bd) = 1.00±0.01 and τ(Λb)/τ(Bd) = 0.90±0.05, in good agreement with the experimental results. In the case of τ(Bs)...

Next-to-Leading Order QCD Corrections to Spectator Effects in Lifetimes of Beauty Hadrons

Theoretical predictions of beauty hadron lifetimes, based on the heavy quark expansion up to and including order 1/mb , do not to reproduce the experimental measurements of the lifetime ratios τ(B)/τ(Bd) and τ(Λb)/τ(Bd). Large corrections to these predictions come from phase-space enhanced 1/mb contributions, i.e. hard spectator effects. In this paper we calculate the next-to-leading order QCD ...

QCD predictions for lepton spectra in inclusive heavy flavor decays.

We derive the lepton spectrum in semileptonic beauty decays from a nonperturbative treatment of QCD; it is based on an expansion in 1/mQ with mQ being the heavy flavour quark mass. The leading corrections arising on the 1/mQ level are completely expressed in terms of the difference in the mass of the heavy hadron and the quark. Nontrivial effects appear in 1/m2Q terms affecting mainly the endpo...
